Not Reaching Your Goals?
Reclaim Your Confidence in 5 Easy Steps!

Are you suffering from a confidence crisis? Take our quiz and 10-step confidence makeover to let go of whatever is holding you back from achieving your goals.

Are you suffering from a confidence crisis? Most women are. You know you want to lose weight, buy a house, get a new career, start a business or reach another life-changing goal, but somehow you can’t seem  to achieve success. In most cases, there’s an internal fear holding you back. Other times, you can be a serious go-getter in some aspects of your life, and still find success elusive in other areas. How many women do you know who have great careers but a string of failed romantic relationships? Or women who can speak up for everyone else but can’t speak up for themselves to get that long overdue raise at work?
It doesn’t have to be that way. You can find the courage the live the life you want by avoiding some common confidence crushers. By taking our “What’s Your Confidence Quotient” quiz and avoiding the 10 confidence stealing mistakes you can reclaim your dream and get out there and do you!
What’s Your Confidence Quotient?
To test your confidence level, take this self-test designed by Valerie Burton, author of Why Not You? 28 Days to Build Authentic Confidence (WaterBrook Press) for Essence magazine.  To get a gut-check of your own confidence levels, check which of these statements are true for you.
  • I can walk into a room full of strangers, introduce myself, and feel comfortable.
  • I can successfully make a presentation in front of a group of people.
  • Fear does not stop me from asking for what I want.
  • Fear of what others think does not keep me from doing what’s right for me.
  • If I purchase something that proves faulty, I can return it to a store that has an unfriendly refund policy and ask for—and receive—a refund.
  • I don’t have to chase after success. I work hard and live my purpose, and the right opportunities, people and resources find their way to my path.
  • I trust myself to finish what I start.
  • If I make a mistake, I never try to cover it up or make excuses so that I can look good. I am comfortable with being imperfect.
  • I haven’t settled for less than what I really want in my life.
  • I do not maintain relationships with people who disrespect, dishonor or abuse me in any way.
  • I am financially confident and have proved myself to be a good steward of money. In public, I feel confident about how I look, I do not size up other women and compare my looks, clothes, jewelry, job or possessions with theirs.
How Did You Do? If you disagree with more than half of these statements , you may need a complete confidence makeover. If you agree with every or nearly every statement, you are in a solid confidence zone. Keep it up and pass it on!

Five  Confidence Stealers and How to Avoid Them
If you’ve got an inner voice telling you, you can’t, take a cue from our President and shout back, Yes I Can! Find your common internal doubt below and then follow the steps to banish it for good.
Common Doubt #1: I feel scared.
The Fix: Ask yourself, what’s the worst that can happen? Write it down. Then figure out a solution to your worst-case scenario.
Common Doubt #2: What if I fail?
The Fix: First, redefine failure. Failure is how we learn to be successful. And you likely have a strong track record of success that you conveniently ignore or brush off. Write down three recent meaningful accomplishments and think about what you did, how you acted and what strengths you used to succeed. Then tap into that same strength.
How many women do you know who have great careers but a string of failed romantic relationships?
Common Doubt #3: Everybody thinks I can’t do it. Maybe they’re right.
The Fix: Get new friends. Surround yourself with people who support with positive comments and constructive criticism that moves you closer to your goals, not brings you down.
Common Doubt #4: I don’t know anyone who’s done this before. Unless you’re reinventing the wheel, there’s somebody out there who’s had similar success doing what you want to do. If you want to be a public speaker, study a successful public speaker and learn their secrets to success. Find a mentor. Ask in your personal network for anyone who’s done what you’re doing. If you can’t find anybody, don’t be afraid to cold call, cold email or cold write a hand-written note to a successful professional asking to be their mentee.
Common Doubt #5: I don’t  know enough. If you feel clueless, educate yourself. The internet is fast and free research at your fingertips. The local library is also a great learning spot.  Aim to become a mini-expert in your field of interest and you’ll soon have the confidence of the pros.
